Flood is the effect of God's wrath upon man - it was believed that in the remote past When people of a specific area committed to sin, God punished those people by sending out flood in that area. With the development of scientific cognition man has however come to actualize that flood is caused by heavy rains. When rivers can not bear the waters, then they overflow by their banks and which is the actual cause of flood. Some other reasons are the causes of flood too. Sometimes, there is a heavy rush of water (a sudden forceful flow) through our rivers from the mountain. Tidal bores or sudden unfreezing of snow progresses to flood.

Damages: The havoc is done by flood beggar description which causes a impenetrable damage to our properties and life. Crops are over-greatly damaged, houses are destroyed, tress are uprooted and cattle are washed away. The children, the weak and the autistic meet watery grave. The strong people climb up house tops or the trees to save themselves. A large number of people become shelter-less or homeless. They stay without food for a long time on the branches of trees or on the house tops. All communications is cut off from the international world community. People move place to place by boats.
All the records of the past has broken by the flood of 1998. Never before did the duration was so long nor the water level got up so high. All communication was totally cut off. The whole country went beneath the water. For a long time, normal activities of the flood affected area were stopped. Crops were fully damaged. A large indefinite number of people became homeless. Herds of cattle were washed out. The wretchedness of the flood affected community knew no bounds.  Thousands of people were met watery grave. The havoc was so great in the world that it was taken a long time to recover the loss.
But the after effect of flood is more serious. Shortage of food breaks out at the flood affected areas which is resulting in violent hunger and starvation and death. The costs of all essential things go up. Various kinds of dangerous diseases like Dysentery, Typhoid and Cholera etc. break out simultaneously. The scarcity of pure drinking water causes an extra great suffering. Flood ruins the total economy of a country.

Merits: Flood does a little good thing to man. During the flood our rivers carry a lot of earth and mud what is known to us as silt which makes the land fertile. For this reason many kinds of crops produce in plenty. Flood also carries away various types of waste matters.

Relief Work: On and later on the flood time the relief work should continue. Otherwise the miseries of the affected people will increase by a geographical rate. During the flood voluntary organizations and government come out for helping the flood affected people. Some relief camps would be opened where people get cloths, food and other daily necessary things. There can be taken a step to sheltered the affected people and fed for a prolonged period to recover their misery. Bank Loans can be given them to run their business and job. By this they could again restart their family.

How to prevent flood: By taking proper steps for controlling floods will be fruitful. All the rivers canals should be caved to clear out the blockage and imperfect drainage system must should be reconstruct. A large number of sluice-gates and floodgates should be made to control the the easy passing of the rain water flow.
